freshly uploaded pages cannot be seen by client who owns the websi

I have been developing a website for a client and have now uploaded all the
pages - problem is that when he tried to view them he can only see the page
that I uploaded the day before - I told him to delete temp internet files and
refresh his screen, but he still can't see the new pages. Can anyone give me
an idea on why this is so. Could it be something to do with his security
settings? It's driving us both crazy. Hope someone has some good solutions to
share with me. Thanks in advance. Suzanne Fleming.

If it works from other PCs and just not from his then it's a PC issue. Tell
him to go to IE, Tools, Internet Options, and in the settings for Temporary
Internet Files choose Every visit to the page under "Check for newer
versions of stored pages"

Are the pages your client cannot see brand new pages or updated old
pages?
If they are updates, can he see the old pages?

Some ISPs (such as AOL) use proxy servers which cache pages for as much
as 48 hours - in AOL's case even the normal refreshing the browser does
not break through the AOL cache, thus updates take up to 2 days to get
through. However, brand new pages should not be hindered in any way.

Try accessing the pages using a link similar to
http://www.example.com/pagename.htm?
Note that the link includes the ? mark. The ? usually breaks
through any cache.

Thanks David. I will tell him. I have had six team members check on other PCs
and they have no problem.

Hey, guys it's great to have you out there for support. You stop a lot of
people from going crazy. Have fun!

Hi Tom,

Yes I see it immediately, plus I have a test team of six and a couple of
friends I send the links to and they have had no problem. That's why I was
certain the problem was a local pc one. But as I'm a web designer, not a tech
person, I wasn't sure and I knew there would be people like you who could
help.

Thanks - you have save me from meldown!

Steve, how often does AOL cashe pages...I am re-designing my website with css
and check both AOL and IE after I upload. IE looks fine, but AOL doesn't
show the uploaded pages on my laptop. View Source doesn't show the recently
uploaded pages in AOL either. I have been updating for weeks now, and only
came across this problem recently-usually it uploads instantly.
But when I check my site on my desktop computer via AOL, the site shows the
newly uploaded pages. Could there be a problem with the AOL software on my
laptop? I tried emptying temporary internet files and restarting my laptop,
but it doesn't help. Thank you....

See
http://webmaster.info.aol.com/caching.html
To force aol to not cache any pages add a parameter to the end of all links
As in: somepage.htm?

Thanks so much Steve...I upgraded AOL to 9.0 VR, seems AOL 9.0 SE was causing
the cache not to be updated. But before I did, one of my website pages
finally did update, so it took a few days to update like you said. So
that's why the website looked different on my laptop vs. my desktop...I had
VR on my desktop and SE on my laptop. Thank you Thank you Thank
you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
