Fresh XP Pro installation

W

wrench

Just did a fresh install of a Student Edition of XP Pro on my daughter's
computer. I can't get it to connect to the internet like before with Win98. The
wizard runs and goes thru the motions, the ethernet card is recognized, it's
connected to my Linksys Router which is connected to my broadband modem.

Do I need to run the network connection wizard on both machines to re-establish
the internet connection?

Hi,

No, you don't need to run the connection wizard. Check the manufacturer's
site for an updated driver for the network card. To see if you are
connecting to the router, click start/run and type cmd, then click ok. From
the prompt run 'ipconfig /all' and see if there is anything listed for the
gateway address, most routers use 192.168.0.1.
