'fresh' new install

T

Tom Jennings

I had Windows Me, I purchased the full version of Windows
XP home edition in hopes of reformating my hard drive and
starting anew. After loading the full version I find that
a lot of junk was left over from Windows Me. Please
explain to me how to format my hard drive and then
install the full version of Windows XP Home Edition. I
would like to start completely fresh. I do have a cd
drive and 3 1/2" drive. Thank you.

I have a HP Pavilion

Boot off of the cd, choose install windows, and then when you get to where
the partitions are, delete them and create new ones. Proceed to a new
installation.

Tom,
you need a 98 startup disk. at the "a:\"
type fdisk
delete the active partition
exit from the program and reboot
boot to the startup disk again
patition the drive and set as active
exit the program
reboot your computer
boot to the XP cd
format the drive in "ntfs"

email me if you have any questions
