Hi!

I checked out the site you gave, but saw it explained the problems with a
Creative Joystick. I experience the same problem (reboots) when playing
Flight Sim 2004. I do not use a Creative Joystick, but I know FS definitely
has support for it...

Thanks

i don't use the creative joystick even idont have the creative sound card or
joy stick
so please help hey if i format my hard disk will the problem go away

don't FORMAT YOUR HARDDRIVEEEEEeeeeeee.

First try removing the sound card and run your pc. If the problem goes away
then you know where the cause may lie. Run you computer a couple of times to
make sure and be sure to review your device manager and remove any entries
related to the sound card - they probably have question marks now and if the
card is not installed.

Secondely, read the instructions for the card before reinstalling. You may
have to follow a specific procedure, like installing the driver first or
something. Also, check out the website for the card and see if there is a
revised driver avail, as it may correct the issue you and others are
encountering. Ulitmately, your will reinstall the card. Be sure it is
screwed down. Be sure that you cmos/bios recognizes the card by seeing if you
need to enable the pci slot. Boot up to windows and see what happens. If
you still have a problem then it could be a bad card maybe a bad joystick.
Have no joystick then maybe you simply have to disable the option.

FORMATTING or REPAIRING your windows installation is unnecessary....But it
is only my opinion....

Hi Ralph,

Did you do a clean install of Windows XP, when you installed the
operating system? What version of XP are you running?

T

Hi Ralph,

Which version of Windows XP are you running? Meaning XP 64-bit, XP Home
Edition, XP Professional Edition? These version of XP are not the same.

Is this copy of Windows XP, the first operating system in this computer?

Hi ralph,

Now we are getting somewhere. :)

Was Windows 98 installed on this particular computer or on a different
computer? Have you reformatted this Hard Drive and installed Windows XP
Professional Edition from scratch?

Do you have OnBoard Sound Chip on the motherboard or is your Sound
controlled by a Sound Card? And what is the Manufacturer and Model Number of
the Card or Number of the Sound Chip.

Hi Ralph,

Do you know what Sound Chip is on your motherboard? Can you post the
information located or printed on the Sound Chip?

T

Hi Ralph,

Who is the manufacturer of the Motherboard and what is the Model Number?
Can you post a link to your Motherboard?

"Lotes" tells me the Sound Chip Manufacturer, but lots of Manufacturers
have different Sound Chips and the Sound Drivers are different for each.

Hi Ralph,

For the future, here is the link I found for your motherboard:
http://www.via.com.tw/en/products/chipsets/p4-series/p4m266/

Also http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=5&ArticleID=466 For
Sound Drivers.

http://www.viaarena.com/default.aspx?PageID=420&OSID=1&CatID=1010&SubCatID=104

Vinyl_AudioCodec_V660f.zip

To install the driver, save any unsaved work and close all applications
then click on the driver download link (above). Choose the "Save File"
option and save it to your folder under Windows where you file your drivers.
Unzip the file. (To unzip the file right click and highlight "Extract All")
Then double click on the Setup.exe file to run the installation program.
Follow the prompts and restart at the end of the installation.

Replace your Audio Drivers.
