French Accents

In the old version of Word, the French accents were very easy to type by
using the CTRL + ' or CTRL + `, but now when I use the same shortcut keys,
the language automatically switches to Japanese and does a Japanese symbol.
I've tried assigning the old shortcut keys, but it won't override the
Japanese. Even the Help article says that the international shortcut keys
are the same, but they don't work. Help! Thanks

They work fine for me here in Word 2003. I suspect you have an international
keyboard or IME enabled.

I'm using the newest version of Word. I just got a new computer. In my old
version of Word, they did work.. and they work in every other version of Word
I've used. I think there is an IME enabled, but how do I disable it? Thanks!

I'm not very knowledgeable about this, but there are a couple of places to
start looking: Start | Settings | Control Panel | Keyboard | Input Locales
and Start | Programs | Microsoft Office | Microsoft Office Tools | Microsoft
Office 2003 Language Settings. You might also try posting in
microsoft.public.word.international.features
