freeze

When i either minimize or close programs, they stay
visible on the desktop and wont close for minutes, up to
ten minutes befor some will close. I have tried to close
them through the task manager, but that doesnt work
either. Every new prg that i open and close stays on the
desktop. Is there an easy fix for this?

you have a memory problem. Your machine is too old and
to slow to be running the Os and software you are asking
it to. Read the system requirements and make the
appropriate move from there.

I am running an intel celeron 2.2ghz.with 256 megs of
ram. How can it be too old? any other ideas?

This doesn't sound like a hardware issue to me. What does a scan with a
current (post-2002 version using updated definitions) antivirus program
show?
