I use Windows XP home edition sp2. the screen will freeze and stop working,
and also mouse also stop working at the same time. I try to shut down the PC
but it doesn't work, so I have to turn off the power, this problem will
happen two or three time a day. This problem make me mad each time when I
read something on the web site and suddenly the screen freeze, also the mouse
stop work.
Please help and teach me how I can fix this problem.

Thank you so much for your time and attention. I am looking forward to
hearing from you soon.

Right click a vacant area of your Desktop, you will get the Display
Properties window. Left click on the Settings tab, then the "Advanced"
button. Now select the Troubleshoot tab and move the Hardware acceleration
slider to one notch above None. Now click the Apply button and OK out.
Run your computer for a while and see if the 'freezing' has stopped. If so,
suspect the need to update video and/or mouse drivers. If a suitable driver
is not available (an updated one that solves the issue), you may have to
resort to a new video card......a lot depends on how old your card is.

Note: this is but one of a number of things that can cause what you
describe. If this does not help, be sure to retrace the steps above and
reset the Hardware Acceleration back to Full.
Heirloom, old and worked for me

The most common cause seems to be overheating and memory problems.
Check to see that all the internal fans are working correctly and not clogged or obstructed.
Reseat the memory, or try 1 stick at a time.
Leave the case cover off to see if it runs cooler and stops freezing.
