FREEZE-UP

While surfing the Internet, no other time, after about an hour or so my
system totally freezes up. I have to reboot using the on/off button. Its like
the computer goes into hibernation. HELP!!

Does the event log show anything happening like any processes failing or
programs failing? How long has the problem been going on?

I have the same problem as David and I too am going nuts with it! My new
Dell computer came with Vista and I have had problems on a daily basis since
I set it up.

It's been hit or miss on anything showing up in the event log, as the
'Windows is checking for the problem' locks too. I've had to reboot, like
David 4 times already today, and at least as many each previous day that I've
had it; none of these freezes has shown up in the log since the end of
January.

Does anyone know if Microsoft is working on a solution for this...I've done
enough searching on the internet to know it is a chronic problem.

my mouth since XP went with my old computer.

Are you looking for help on an XP computer or a Vista computer? (This
being an xp group). I guess one thing is what programs are actually
running in the background? I found on my machine with Vista if Daemon
tools was running in the background (even without a drive mounted) the
computer would occasionally freeze hard.
