freeze up during video play

Usual housekeeping first.

Defrag, Disk Cleanup, Full Antivirus Scan with updated signatures, Full
Spyware Scan with updated signatures.

Well Cari, thank you for that. I have done everything you suggested and I
still have the problem. I also in some way deleted a perhaps corrupted
operating folder in my word office pro. So now that is not working. Any other
input?

You can go into the Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel and ask it to
reinstall Microsoft Office.

I am also having same problem, using XPHome,have a good spec PC etc.tried
suggestions, with no success. Any other ideas

Same boat Running XP x64 Pro with WMP 10. Really aggravating because it
sucks up all the CPUs processor power and will not let me end the
wmplayer.exe process. Appears that all video on all players are now doing
this... winamp and quicktime. First noticed on media player though. Appears
to recognize the file and the length of the clip, but just sits on "opening
media"...

Only installs that happended before I noticed this were the windows updates
for XP and Adobe CS2.
