Freeze on start up

On starting, if I select icons such as MY DOCUMENTS or MY COMPUTER the
system freezes and requires restart. Programs such as WORD, EXCEL and games
etc are not affected. Any ideas?

Try installing xp cd,exit the info page,then go to run,type:cmd In cmd
type:Sfc /Scannow When itsthru type:CHKDSK C: /F Agree to restart,then
type:EXIT Restart computer.If that doesnt work,create a new user,see if in
new user the problem(s) dont exist,if not the other account is
corrupted,delete
account.
