Greeting and thanks for reading,

My computer was running very smoothly, and i have recently dicovered the
following problems. The only thing I can attribute it to is that in the last
two weeks i installed both spy sweeper and norton.

1. On loging of of my user, the computer administrator, the computer
freezes completely and i must unplug it to restart.

2. On logging in to my user, it takes about 3 full minutes to load the
desktop and all the desktop icons

3. There are several strange processes running in the task manager, and i
don't know what they are, or if they are related to my problem. They
include: csrss.exe, smss.exe, lsass.exe, alg.exe

Any and all help is much appreciated! Thanks.

Hi, Andy. Those are legitimate Windows files. You didn't say anything
about your computer specs. Do you have plenty of room on your hard
drive? At least 256MB of RAM? How fast is the processor? You've
actually answered the cause and effect question, at least partially. I
must admit I'm not fond of Norton products any more because I find they
are bloated and invasive. However, quite a few people have experienced
problems with SpySweeper, particularly after SP2 (and you didn't say
what version of XP you have, with what Service Pack level).

I'd start by uninstalling SpySweeper and see how things go. If
everything reverts to smooth running, you have your answer. If you'd
like more help, please post back to this thread with more information
about your system as suggested above.
