I have an HP ze1250 laptop that I bought about a year
ago, and it came installed with Windows XP Home. It
started freezing on me after a week - it would happen
once in a while but not often. It was never connected to
the internet for 2 months.
Soon it started freezing once a day and I had no warrenty
on it and Microsoft's help wasn't helping. Finally, I
wiped it clean and installed XP Pro. It worked fine for a
few days and then it started freezing again, back up to
once or twice (or more) a day.
The problem is that it simply freezes - the mouse stops
moving, sounds stop, videos freeze, and the only way to
fix it is to hold in the power button and manually
restart it.
Does anyone have any idea what is wrong or how to fix
it??? Someone out there must be able to help me out.
Please email me at (e-mail address removed) if you can
help out.

Hi James,

Take it to a shop and have it tested. That sort of freezing is generally
indicative of a hardware problem. Could simply be flakey ram, or it could be
a more serious problem. Either way, you've already shown that it's not the
OS, it's the machine itself that is causing it.
