Freeze 3minutes into Web Browsing

I've just installed my Swann USB modem on my XP pc (after using it on win98
for a year), everything seems to work OK, untill about 3 minutes after being
'on-line' my pc freezes!

Yes i have downloaded the XP drivers for the modem.

I haven't yet installed SP2, as i can't stay online long enough!.....

any ideas??

what version is the modem? Did you check out the Swann web site for info or
troubleshooting?
