Freez and abort

Hello have some Problems on a XP PRO

I select on a website the upload button, or i chose the download of a file
per right mousclick and save file as ...the follw thing shows up "The
Filepicker was unexpectedly closed bei WIndows" anf the window freeze.

In some Programs i run the open or save comand let the Program freez w/o
any error or programm not respond . It jsut do nothing and stay there
Some otheres like ADOBE Acrobat or Outlook express shut down in a part of
second with no notice or anything


What can that be ?

Hello,

It appears you have some serious problem(s).

See what Event Viewer has in it's log. Select Start button/ select Run , then type in

eventvwr.msc<enter>

-- or Go to Control Panel / Performance and Maintenance/Administrative Tools >Event Viewer.

Review the sections and look for Errors or Warnings that match the time the event occurred.
Double click---the information "may" give a clue.

Check your Ram memory very thoroughly.
You may need to have your RAM memory thoroughly checked out by a good RAM tester program.

MEMTEST86 is another memory test utility & is free.

I would recommend you download it from a "reliable" pc --- not this one. And do the setup and the diskette on the good system.
Only then take the diskette (or burn/make a CD) to the "problem" pc.

Once you have checked memory, and it is OK, then you have to research other possible causes.

Also, your "freeze" may just be Windows encountering a serious error & trying to restart. If true, you need to actually "see" the error.
Be sure to write it down when it occurs.
Right Click the My Computer icon on desktop. Select Properties.
Next, select Advanced. Look for a block that says Startup and recovery. Press the settings button.
In System failure section, turn off (un-check) Automatically restart. Apply change.
