Freeware Prog / Outlook Addin for legitimate mass emailing

Nadeem

Hi

I'm after either a freeware prog or free outlook plugin that will let me do
email a large list of our users. Before anyone flames me - it's for a
legitimate purpose and not spam.

Cheers

Doesn't OE allow you to setup groups?

Barring that, www.pmail.com does this with ease.

Sorry for that, I should have been more specific, I have the list of our
users as a CSV file and I need to email them all but with the receipient's
email address in the to field, I suppose what I'm really after is some list
management software with built in SMTP facility - I've found Listmaster Pro
from AnalogX so far that looks reasonable.

But you have to pay around $30.00 for the manuals to the program - so if
your question isn't answerd in the FAQ then it becomes payware instead of
freeware (e.g. I want to know if you can send out emails so that they will
send out say for example at the rate 500 every hour).

I think I'm probably not going to find completly what I want for free so my
best find so far has been www.vallen.de/freeware , bu thank you for
everyone's help - I'd fogotten about Pegasus Mail, but I prefer to keep
Outlook/Outlook Express for my day to day use and use something like Vallen
Emailer for one off jobs.

I know of many apps that can do that... but at that rate its starting to
sound like spam

Not particulary, I work for a university, where we have a registered service
with thousands of users (users must register, print off and sign an
agreement form), we don't normally have to email all our users in one go, we
have various mailing lists that they all elong to anyway, run by the UK
academic community (see www.jiscmail.ac.uk for this service). I want to know
stuff like the rate per hour for 2 reasons - 1) quite sensibly our
university will only let you send a certain amount of emails per hour to
prevent spamming and 2) I want to know how long it will take me to mail the
whole list.

I honestly couldn't tell you the rate per hour.. I use Pegasus Mail in
conjunction with Mercury Mail (and I do know Mercury can handle around 8000
emails per hour)

I would guess Pegasus Mail would be slower than that. I send out about 500 to
my list and it takes a couple of minutes to generate the list and send on my
broadband. Of course bigger the list....

Many educational facilities have mailing list server software
available. Have you asked around to see?

Have you ever tried to get tech support at a university? :) I ended up using
the Vallen Emailer program from earlier in the thread.
