Freeing up memory in DOS prompt XP

I am trying to run POP2 but keep getting the
message "program to big to fit in memory"
Any suggestions??

Should have said that I am running XP home with 256 ram

Steve, you probably need to edit the game Program Information File (PIF) to
allow for EMS or XMS memory allocations. If you take a look in Help and
Support, do a Search for "PIF" without the quotes, it will guide you through
it.
