I know it's possible to run the Xp version of FreeCell on Windows 7 but I'd
like to do the opposite. Is it possible to install the Windows 7 version of
FreeCell on Xp?

No idea, personally, but if you have access to the executable on a Win7 box,
why not just copy it over and see what happens? (Copyright considerations
aside.)
