free space does not increase

When I delete a file directly (without sending it to the bin) my free space
does not increase. But when I send it to the bin, and then remove it, my free
space increases.

Can anyone please help me ?

I have found that your free space will come back after a few days and a few
restarts.......im not sure why......this happened when i used to do video
editing, after a few days after i deleted the video files, the free space
came back

Don't you use Norton Utilities by chance -- namely, Norton Protected Bin (which
is installing not only by NU now, but by some other Symantec programs, too)?

You empty the Norton Protected Bin! If you right-click on the Recycle
Bin, you'll see the added option to do this. For more information, look
in your Norton program's Help file.
