Hi,

I purchased an HP laptop two months ago. My dvds played just find. Now my
dvds and mouse curser sticks. I opened up task manager and found the
following:

taskmgr.exe
msimn.exe
IXPLORE.EXE
hposts08.exe
hpotdd01.exe
hpobnz08.exe
msmgs.exe
ccApp.exe
SynTpenh.exe
SynTplpr.exe
atipatxx.exe
carpserv.exe
explorer.exe
ccEvtMgr.exe
spoolsv.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
svchost.exe
ati2evxx.exe
lsass.exe
services.exe
winlogon.exe
csrss.exe
smss.exe
HPConfig.exe
CDAC11B.exe
alg.exe
hpoevm08.exe
System
System Idle Process.

The above is all under Process. When I close a few of them my dvd played
with no hangups. Can anybody tell me which files should be running in a
normal basic idle? I am sure many of these files do not need to be
displayed. I am trying not to always open windows in Safe Mode

For starters; "IXPLORE.EXE" appears to be a virus/trojan, see;

Sophos AV
http://www.sophos.com/virusinfo/analyses/trojsdbotcy.html

As above but Google cache highlighting term; "IXPLORE.EXE"
http://tinyurl.com/2f4n6

Sorry to give bad news but suggest you update and run, any AV (AntiVurus)
program that you have.
Alternately/and goto to below link and run free online AV-scan.

You might also want to download, update and run these free programs to deal
with 'adware' and 'spyware';
'Ad-Aware' which can be downloaded from;
http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/

Also, 'Spybot Search & Destroy' from;
