I installed and tested it. WinXP and HP200i DVD+RW burner.

The interface is relatively simple and clean, although there is a
button for almost every menu item, which seems overkill to me. Easy
drag and drop from explorer, or use it's own "open dialog".

There is no help file, clicking on the Help->Help Topics menu item
takes you to the burn4free web site, with it's minimal tutorial.
Personally, I hate web-based help, and this is barely a help page.
However, it's easy enough to use if you have used any sort of burner
program before.

No ads, no apparent spyware, doesn't call home (except for help, and
there is an upgrade button that presumably does).

It successfully wrote a DVD+RW, which makes it unique among freeware
burners.

However, I quickly found a couple of serious problems.

1) Quick erase starts and goes up to 100% complete, but then hangs. I
eventually clicked "Abort erase", at which point the disk appeared
erased, but it's still in use, so the eject button didn't work. I had
to reboot.

2) Attempting to write a directory with multiple long file names that
are almost identical (the Windows/WinSxS/Manifests directory in WinXP)
gives an address violation, and the program crashes. Nero, in
contrast, gives an error message before burning when you attempt to
write this directory, so it fails to write it, but it doesn't crash.

Also, note that DVD+R is not listed in in the media supported. I don't
know if this is true, or an error in documentation. It seems to work
OK with DVD+R up to the point of the confirm dialog, but I was
unwilling to burn a DVD+R coaster to test it. :) It also lets you
erase a DVD+R up to the point of the confirm dialog, which is bogus
since DVD+R can't be erased.

There is an option for Joliet or not, but no options for the various
CD writing modes and relaxed file name restrictions. No ability to
load ISO images. No ability to write bootable disks. No ability to
burn DVD movie disks (data or audio only).

Overall, I would say it has promise, but not ready for prime time yet.

Well nice to know it works.

I hope you emailed the author about these issues.

Nice to know. It won't work for me. My Memorex DVD+RW/+R drive is not
recognized by a lot of burning programs.

Hmmm strange. It's about 1.4mb. The download works fine for me. Maybe try
it with a download manager.
It works!
