Free Download Manager with Firefox, two questions

I have just started using Free Download Manager over FlashGot with
Firefox. I have two questions.

1. When FDM finds a file with the same name as the downloading file, it
renames the
downloading file to filename (1).ext
How do I change this behaviour (on a file group basis, not globally) so
that FDM simply
overwrites the old file?

2. When I click on a file, FDM provides a menu (saying where the file
is to be saved etc) that needs to be clicked before file downloading
starts. Is there a way to make FDM start downloading files
immediately, Opera style?

TIA

For me, it does start downloading immedaitely.
Try Options\Download Options\Monitoring, check "Silent monitoring", click
"Apply".

Eric,
1. Options/Download Options/Advanced/Miscellaneous

I went there and changed "If file already exists" to "Rewrite"
(the default setting was Rename) but the behaviour remains unchanged.
The old file is not overwritten, and the new file is filename (1).ext.
I must have misunderstood.
