free burner for USB CDRW?

are there any free burning apps that can handle USB CDRW? i have Nero
Express which was bundled with my burner, but it's either getting buffer
underruns or burning too fast for the media (52x instead of 48x).
Express doesn't allow speed adjustments. neither the Roxio, Nero, nor
Alcohol demos worked. either they didn't recognize the burner or
wouldn't allow speed adjustments.

i've been burning in linux while i get this straightened out.

at worst, i guess i'll fork over the cash for Nero or Roxio OEM and hope
it works.

Deepburner.

Greedo shot first. Greedo ALWAYS shot first. You did not see Solo shoot
first.
It never happened. Never, ever. Not in any version. Remember: Greedo
shot first.

DeepBurner is my preferred app, but others can also be found at:

if you run xp, burn at once:

if you run something else, upgrade to xp.

CDBurnerXP Pro works on 98/ME/2000/XP, and the support list shows that in
addition to supplying known support for a variety of internal drives, also
lists a number of USB and Firewire drives.

Could be worth trying out?

I've been looking at this one but cannot tell if it will support a USB
DVD burner. Will it even copy DVDs?

From: http://www.burnatonce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=696

"DVD support uses a third party program called ProDVD which requires a
license key. Keys are free for private or non commercial use - see below
for more information.

Without a license key you'll only be able to simulate writing or write 1GB
at a time. To write more than 1GB you'll need a license key for ProDVD,
which is available by sending an email in plain text to
(e-mail address removed) with these formatting rules:"

i have a copy of Server 2003, but no XP. Currently running 98.

$90 -- xp home
$300 -- faster machine

i think i'll just go the Nero OEM or Deepburner route thanks.
