CD-R, long filenames >128ch , freeware

Libor Striz

Hello,

I have 650MB/70000 files database of offline web pages by Offline
Explorer (OE). Some files have very long names, close to 100chars,
( not sure if there is some more then 128chars )

e.g.: "102-2634354-2197749@tag=tmparke-
20&creative=9341&camp=1793&link_code=st1&path=ASIN_2F1550749706"

I was going to burn it on CD and switching its location in OE.

Unfortunately NE gave me warnings about not unique filenames.
I know little about different file systems for CD (ISO, UDF ) with
different allowed filename length (ISO, Juliet, some others ).
But NE do not allow me to choose, just optional check of valid
Joliot names.

I have a combo DVD/CD-RW burner LG GCC 4480B with bundled Nero Express
(NE) 5.5.9.9 and InCD 3.39.0 under (Win98SE).

At this point I see the only option to burn it zipped,
but I would lost a direct access to files.

Is there a free burn software ( best if without installing extra
drivers that I would afraid ) to solve the problem ?

I have tried that software with all three mentioned files
(CD Extreme, its update end prassi engine (358,390 and 507 ver)
a year ago. Unfortunately it did not support my burner.

I use burnatonce 0.99.5 released! 17/Apr/2004 at 16:58:32

http://www.burnatonce.com/

Works like a dream for me.... but you do need to se tth eappropriate
settings to override the defaults.
I use:
Open Burnatonce

Mastering\Data DVD(or CD)\ISO Settings

Tick only:
Compliant PVD
ISO9660:1999
Joliet Names
Long Joliet Names
UDF v1.02
Rock Ridge
This will allow maximum character & folder limits

Press OK, drag & drop your files, compile then press write.

good luck

I use Burnatonce <http://www.burnatonce.com/> for long file and
directory names. Set it to "Long Joliet Names" under the ISO
Settings button.

Be warned, not all drives will read this kind of disk. Most work just
great, but I've found a few that say the disk is unreadable.

Thanks to all.

I have successfully tried both BurnAtOnce and CDrtfe.

For cdrtfe I had to copy newer exe files from BurnAtOnce.

I have ticked only Compliant PVD and ISO 9660:1999.

Both Joliots, UDF and RockRidge seems to limit length under my needs.
The longest names had more than 180 chars
- damned shareware Offline explorer, not supporting name translating.

Now I am starting to use WinHTTrack, to be a good boy :)
I has even option to translate names into ISO 9660.

It supports shorter filenames - you can easily export to
Joliet-compatible filenames using the File | Export command in the
main menu. There are many other options available, like 8+3 names,
export to CHM (HTML Help files), MHT, etc.

I would suggest you to use the latest Offline Explorer Pro:
