Hi Daniel;

Your right. The version of MS Paint on the Win2k's (sp4) I have access
to do not handle formats other than .bmp & .dib. Sieste has posted
information on how to /add/ file support for MS Paint. According to
this info, support is added automatically when a user installs other
applications from MS.

But, it sounds like your win95b is more advanced than my win2k. <grin>

My Paint on my Win2K can handle JPGs, but that must be due to my having
installed Office 2000 . . .

There's an interesting data-point. I've never had MS Office (nor Word,
etc) installed on this particular Win2k box.

I am still wondering about this, though.
I've always had the impression, but can also easily be dead wrong,
that some other MS application always is required.
Daniel, are you sure that is not the case. Maybe a now uninstalled
program but with left behind filters?

No, it does so.

Right..

It`s woking pretty well with smaller Apps (1-512k dimensions/or per
sec.). Bigger Data amounts are being processed better by Nt. Although,
the machine could drive Nt4, but for XP it would be too less. P2-280.

I was going from memory.
Now, with a bit more effort I found that this question was asked here in
a.c.f. in oct. 2002 http://tinyurl.com/jsfaw

"The computers at my college are running windows 98, as is mine.
They have MSPaint - just like mine.
However, from paint, one can save a bitmap as .jpg
But this is not available on my PCs version of pbrush.
Does anyone know anything about this?"

The (basically same) solution seemed to help a number of people.
