free audio recorder

I wanted to download a free audio recorder that can record from my mic to
the pc. But it seems that all the ones that are come across are bundled with
spyware and a whole lot of limitations. I used to use one that was really
good and it recorded anything that I heard. But recently my computer crashed
and I can't remember the name of the recorder. Any suggestions will be
greatly appreciated. Thanks
