FP2002 HELP!!!!

I'm having problems with FP2002 editor and can't seem to be able to fix it.
I've posted messages on this forum before and I've received plenty
suggestions but they didn't work.

My version of FP2002 came bundled with "Office XP with FrontPage", ever
since I upgraded XP with SP2 and all the rest of the suggested security
upgrades, FP2002 started to develop differend kind of problems such as:
Inserting Navigation bars won't work, the "Norm- Htm- Preview" tabs won't
work, can't move from one to another with out exiting the editor an back
again.

Iwould like to completely uninstall FP2002 and reinstall it with out
effecting something else.

.
In FP 2002, choose Detect & Repair from the Help drop down
menu. Have your installation CD available.

Once FP loses its functionality there is no way to fix it if Detect Repair does not work. A re-installation will do no good. A complete re-installation of the Op sys is the only fix.

Do you mean reinstalling windows XP?? That seems drastic to me, but having
been around MS. products as long as I have, it doesn't surprice me much.

Yes, that's pretty drastic and should be done only as a last possible
resort. (usually when nothing on your pc works)
Your problem seems to have occurred only after SR2 was installed. SR2 can
sometimes muck up a few things. What I would do is to COMPLETELY uninstall
FrontPage after making a backup of your webs. Then do a chkdsk /f, defrag,
install FP.

After contemplating all the responses I received, and being an old stubborn
egineer I decided to go back to a previous "Restore Point"; allway back to
September 1st. Had to reinstall a few small things but FP2002 is back working
the way it was. So the moral of the story is: we are still Trouble-Shooting
MS products online. I remember when MSN first got started sitting online,
for hours with a 56K modem (fewwwww!!!) finding bugs. I still have the T
shirt that MS sent me for the effort.

Thanks for all your help
God Bless

Uninstalling SP2 would have been a little easier, but glad you got it sorted
out for now.

Yes that is what I mean. When FP loses its functionality it is usually a result of necessary registry entries no longer working. The removal of FP does not remove those reg enttries. Therefore when you reinstall FP thinks those reg entries are good and does not "fix" them. This is a common problem of poor uninstallers and really a direct reselt of the Installer technology Microsoft uses.
