FP hangs when I try to open a particular website

Dave Rado

Hi all

I'm running FP2000 under Win XP Pro, using IIS and NTFS.

As of yesterday evening, FP suddenly refuses to open a particular website of
mine that is on my hard disk (it's there for development purposes - I
publish from there).

I can open the website in FP if I use the DOS path (i.e.
C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\[rest of path]; but if I try to open it using
http://localhost/[webname], FP just freezes and I have to kill it using Task
Manager. IE has no problem opening the website using the http path, it's
only FP that's playing up. I have several other websites on my hard disk,
and they open fine in FP, it's only this one site that won't open. I've run
Detect & Repair, but that didn't help.

How should I troubleshoot this?

Dave

Close FrontPage.
Copy and paste the following into Start > Run or the IE address bar and click Go:

%UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

In the folder that opens delete all files present. FrontPage will create new ones as needed.

Do the same for:
%UserProfile%\Local Settings\Temp\FrontPageTempDir

Restart FrontPage.
