FP does not convert graphics

I am fairly certain that previous version(s) of FP would accept and convert
tif graphics automatically. Just drop an image on the page and when you save
the embedded file has been converted to jpeg.

That does not seem to be the case now in FP2003. Right or Wrong?
 
You're right that it won't convert, but I don't ever remember it being able to.
It will convert a jpg to a gif if you set part of a jpg as transparent though.
