I'd like to give the Web Log package a try, but I'm confused about
exactly what level or type of SharePoint support I need to use this
feature. Does anyone know any resources specifically for FP-generated
blogs, good hosting companies to use, or other wisdom? There's not a
lot of info out there on the Web Log Web Package...or maybe I'm just
looking in the wrong place. Thanks!

it's there in FrontPage but you'll have to be hosted on a server that has or
is willing to install sharepoint team services.

if they won't you could get another host or use another solution. there are
lots out there. find out what server side scripting your host allows and
visit www.hotscripts.com I'm sure you'll find plenty. I've found most of
these type of scripts are fairly easy to deploy, edit, and manage with
FrontPage.

You'll find a couple partner hosts for WSS at
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver2003/techinfo/sharepoint/partners.mspx
and can get a 30 day free trial of WSS at
http://www.sharepointtrial.com/default.aspx

Just for clarity:

You need to find a host that has or is willing to install Windows SharePoint
Services. SharePoint Team Services WILL NOT give you the functionality, as
the Web Log requires Web Parts (and relies heavily on the Data View Web
Part) which is only available on servers running Windows SharePoint
Services.
