Found Reason Why Xp Reboots Playing Games, but don`t know how to fix

Hi everyone:)
Well I have had my brand new pc for 4 months now, and my husband and I have
only been able to play big games for short periods of time before pc goes to
black screen and have to do a reboot or it just reboots whenever ..... very
frustrating.
Eventually found it was a driver, but which driver..... I tried all sorts of
things to find out .....months of searching net, forums, hotfixes etc
I finally reformatted my c drive and my 2 partitions. Before I installed my
sound I tried playing Sims and was able to play for hours without any
crashes or reboots. I installed the sound and my game crashes couple of
times. Got my husband to play his game Star Wars battlefield and was not
into game very long and it crashes. I had settings so I could get the blue
screen error report, and it refers to the smwdm.sys file which I know is
from my Soundmax. The error is ......

smwdm.sys-address F7E76112 base at F7E3A000, Datestamp 3defc7ab

My motherboard is Asus P4SGX-MX and I checked the site for latest drivers
and what I have is the latest version.
When I install Soundmax I install off my motherboard cd.
Windows XP Home edition SP1. Directx 9b,latest Nvidia drivers, 512 DDR
ram,SoundMax 5.12.01 3533

Can anyone help with fixing this error please

Have you tried going into Control Panel/Sounds and Audio Devices and
reducing the hardware acceleration on the sound? Sometimes that works
miracles, just by moving it a notch at a time to the left.

You might also want to go into Control Panel/System/Advanced tab and click
the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery section at the bottom.
There is a line in there in the System failure section entitled,
"Automatically restart." Remove the check mark from the box, and you may
get a screen displaying the error when it happens, but the system won't
reboot on you.

Also, please make sure you go to Windows Update and get all the latest
patches for your system - especially the critical updates. If you continue
to have problems, please post back and we'll try a different approach.
