Windows XP Forum Thread crashing IE

Every time I go to view todays WCG Stats thread since the recent last post by Rush - I get the the old 'MS error, shutting down IE' etc come up, either happens immediately or after a short while.

I think we've had this problem before - it doesn't happen when I view other threads.

Anyone else using IE getting the same?

I just checked in IE and it worked fine for me

Weird - if I go direct to the last post (Rush's) it happens immediately - if I go to the thread and slowly scroll down it takes a while before it crashes.

Doesn't happen in any of the other threads - I seem to remember we had this with a post/thread before and Ian did something to correct it, but I can't seem to find it

Ah i see what you mean. I was waiting for the page to load and scrolled down.

It crashed for me too just then when I went straight to the post.

Had to fire up Windows & IE and yes, it crashes ... now I ask err, ain't that sort of thing normal.

why? I do not know, but again, we'll have to see if Ian can find the 'problem' ...


I have been looking at some of the members sigs, and some are a little overbearing ... do you really need both Bionc & Borrg sigs? Although I cannot 'see' why Rush's sig, if indeed it is his sig, crashing IE and not yours as well Ady?

I just tried that thread here at work. (Win2K I.E 6) and it was fine, no crashing al all.....

I not convinced its the sigs, If it was would it not crash every thread?

Tell a lie, it just did it. when i clicked the arrow to goto the last post. (Ciri's)

EDIT: Just been trying with sig's disabled and it still does it....

Just a funny quote layout in the code that causes IE to crash - I've got no idea why it sometimes happens, as its fine in FireFox!

Do you mean as in when someone quotes someone else?

Yup, thats the one!

vBulletin puts quotes as code like:

[ quote ] xxxxxxxxxxxxx [/ quote]

but if tags wrap around it like this, it causes problems:

[ left ] [ quote ] [/ left ]xxxxxxxxxxx [/ quote]

So, in other words, IE is old and crap.
