Although I have checked all of the boxes in the Auto Complete section of the
internet options function of IE6 running under WindowsXP Home Edition SP1 the
automatic forms completion and insertion of passwords do not work.

Any suggestions?

How to set Autocomplete for addresses in the Address Bar

In order to enable the Autocomplete, do the following:

Go to Tools | Internet Options | Click the Content tab. Click the button
that says Autocomplete. Check Web Addresses and all other items you want
used with Autocomplete. Click OK

On the General tab look for the section on History. Set the Day to keep
pages in history to how many days you want to keep pages in the History.

Keep in mind that the Auto-Complete feature can be disabled by the webmaster

Hint: View Source for a webpage should reveal the AutoComplete property. If
set to OFF, that site has intentionally turned Off the AutoComplete feature
for security.
