Formatting Not Sticking

Whenever I reformat a few of my styles in my document and then I close it,
when I reopen the document the styles revert back to the way the were and I
have to redo it. Could anyone tell me what's going on. Thanks, ll

Whenever I reformat a few of my styles in my document and then I close it,
when I reopen the document the styles revert back to the way the were and I
have to redo it. Could anyone tell me what's going on. Thanks, ll

Under Tools > Templates and Add-ins..., make sure that "Automatically update
document styles" is not checked.

This forces the document styles to match the styles in the template upon
which it is based every time you the document.
