Formatting line spacing

I am using Word 2000. Everything I type, the line spacing is double. I have checked the obvious places - line spacing, paragraph format, style, etc. In all of these places the line spacing is set to single space, however, when I am typing a document everything is double spaced. What is going on? This has just happened all of the sudden. Up until a couple of days ago, everything was working just fine. Somebody please help me!!!!!

Bobby,

Do you let Word wrap at the end of a line or do you hit
Enter.

If you hit enter, you shouldn't, but check
Format>Paragraph>Spacing Before and After.
