Word 2007 large spacing between paragrahs that can't be removed

I have a document that is set to single spacing; however, between some of the
paragraphs large spaces are left (like it is double-spaced). I've check the
document using the show/hide button and also checked the paragraph settings
but everything looks correct. There are various places in the document that
I can press the enter key to start a new paragraph and the "extra spacing"
shows up. I do the same thing in other places throughout the document and
the spacing is fine. Any suggestions on fixing this problem?

Thanks!

Resolved the problem by going to the Page Layout tab, then to the Page Setup
section and clicked the arrow in the right corner, clicked the Layout tab,
and changed the vertical alignment from “Justified†to “Top".
