Formatting gone crazy

I have a table with 5 rows and 2 columns. All containing data. I clicked in
the cell in column2 of row 3. I then click on he bullets button on the
formatting toolbar and all paragraphs in the entire table became bullets. I
then opened a new blank document. entered =rand(5,4) to create some dummy
data. I selected the third paragraph and tried to change it to a bullet.
All of the paragraphs on the page became bullets.

What going on ??? How can I fix it?
