Formatted hard drive - still unable to reach websites

Hi again,

I am unable to reach certain websites that I know are good and active, such
as dell.com. I tried running all the spyware software there was and nothing
would fix the problem. Finally I formatted my hard drive and reinstalled XP
Pro. I did not restore anything from my old system and went right to
dell.com, and the other sites I can't reach, and sure enough ... I have the
same problem. It's not a modem issue because I can reach most sites just
fine, only certain ones will no longer allow me access, giving me the page
not found error. Would anyone have any ideas?

Check your HOSTS file and delete any entry for the sites you can't get to.
Try again.

jesis man, a fresh XP and it still has issues with websites?
Ping the website and see if you get a reply
Grab the IP that gets replied and put that in place of the URL and test
it to see if you can access it that way. If so, then there is some
filter on your network that is outside your PC (Fresh install, right?)

I did try that before I formatted Jerry and sadly that didn't fix the
problem. But appreciate your suggestion though! Verna

I found out today that it was a problem with the ISP server, not me!! They
said it was some setting that they changed and all is working fine now.
