formating

Can you format windows xp. I like to be able to format my computer every once and a while. Yet I cant seem to be able to format the c: drive to do this I keep reloading xp on to my computer and all the programs are still their and I want to have to reload all the programs after I install windows.. like starting from scratch

Dave,

Yes - just boot from the Windows XP CD ROM and follow the onscreen prompts -
these will allow you to delete partitions and reformat as needed.

Let me know what you find out because I did format my
drive and now I have major problems.. won't allow me to
install any windows programs.. says my product keys are
invalid?

My son is also having problems formatting his C: drive.
He does not even get the option to do so during the
install setup. I suspect it is do to the fact that he
previously was loading windows from his 'E' drive. In
fact he now gets a choice of 4 bootable drives when
windows comes up. What is good procedure to follow to
clean out boot record and get the system back to a point
where his gets option to allow him to format the C drive.
Thanks in advance for any help anybody can give me.
