formating

Ok...working on a Laptop....used the floppy version of
windows Setup, as its an older laptop and have a USB port
CD Rom that won't boot, so after installing all the setup
files, I deleted the C drive partition and created a new
one, tried formattin it in both FAT and NTFS (or whatever
its called) and both failed.

Get error:
"The following Value in the .SIF file used by setup is
corrupted or missing.
Value 0 on the line in section [SourceDiskFiles] with
Key "SP1.CAB"
Setup cannot continue to quit Setup press F3"

Any help would be appreciated, Not sure if that error is
on the XP Home disk or the windows setup I loaded from
Floppies????

Thanks a bunch

Dave

You loaded the setup floppies, then deleted the partiton? If so, then what
you loaded would get wiped out. Boot to a winxp floppy boot disk (get the
single floppy boot disk here -- www.bootdisk.com
After you boot to the floppy, run fdisk, delete all partitions including non
dos partitions, create a new partition, roboot to floppy, type format c:
Once formatted follow the instructions from the xp boot floppy to finish
installing xp.(on the formatted drive type winnt.exe and hit enter, that
should get the setup going)
