Clean XP Professional install

K

Keith

When trying to install Windows XP pro I get this message
"The following value in the .SIF file used by setup is
corrupted or missing.
Value 0 on the line in section [SourceDiskFiles] with key
'SP1.cab'"
Then it tells me to exit setup because it cannot
continue and it will reboot.
I am using the 6 floppy disk boot disk set for Windows XP
Pro and the installation CD for Windows XP Pro. I get
this message when trying to install the OS from the CD.

What should I do next?

Apparently, you downloaded the incorrect set of setup disks.

Make sure you download the correct set of disks. If SP1 is included with
your Windows XP CD, download the setup disks for use with SP1.

Greetings --

Problems copying files or corrupted files during installation
are most often caused by defective or sub-standard hardware; in order
of likelihood, either RAM, the hard drive, or the motherboard. On
much less frequent occasions, a bad CD or defective CD drive can also
cause this.
