You can boot from a Windows 98SE boot floppy [make sure that your BIOS has
A: as the first boot device] and then call FDISK to delete the existing
partition then call Windows 2000 setup from the CD and use the text based
portion of setup [the blue screen, plain text part at the beginning] to
create and format the partitions. You can also boot from the Windows 2000
CD-ROM and delete/create your partitions [skipping FDISK altogether] from
the same text based portion of setup.
This will give you a 'clean slate' in which to rebuild your box.

Is there anyway to format the hard drive w/ Win 2000 Professional?
I booted up the computer and pressed F8. I then scrolled down to
Command Prompt in the safe mode. I tried to Fdisk the harddrive,
but it wouldn't allow me to do so. The message said that I would
have to do some kind of dismount. What do I need to do in order
to Fdisk my harddrive with Win 2000? I want to start off with a
clean slate. If I reinstall using the Win 2000 disk, the settings and
files still remain on the harddrive. I want to erase
everything!
