I just purchased a new second hard drive for my system. I cannot recall the
procedure to format a second drive under XP Pro. I do not wish to use the
drive overlay software that came with the drive. Thank you for your time and
help.

Hi,

Click start/run, type diskmgmt.msc and click ok. Then right click the new
drive and create a partition. Then you can format it from windows explorer.
This assumes you have installed the drive and its jumper correctly, then
booted the system.
