Format problem

I am using W2K Pro. I am trying to format floppy. Windows
wont do format. I get message, "Windows was unable to
complete the format". Tried new disks even. Anybody else
have this problem? If so please advise.

You do not say how you tried to format those floppies. Try opening a dos
session instead of using Windows interface to do that. If you don't have
a short cut, just type "command.com" on the "run" tab. Formatting should
work then.

Just in case, make sure the tab preventing format on the floppy is in
the right position (left bottom hole on floppy should be masked).

If all fails, try from safe mode.

As a last resort, use a Win98 startup disk, boot from floppy and do the
format from there. But this should be necessary.
