Format a Hard drive??

Steve

How do I format a hard drive using windows 2000?
If anybody could send me detailed dummy proof
instructions it would be much appreciated.

Thanks,

Steve

There are a few ways actually:

The first few methods assume that the hard drive you want
to format is a spare drive in an already running Windows
2000 system

One way is to use Disk Managment.

1. Right mouse click on My Computer
2. Select Manage
3. Select Disk Managment
4. Right mouse click the hard drive you want to format on
the list and select Format. If it's unavailable, you
would have to Create Partition first.

Second you can just go using my computer:
1. Open My Computer
2. Right mouse click the drive you want to format and
select Format.

Third is the command line option:
1. Click start then Run
2. Type CMD and hit Enter
3. At the prompt type FORMAT X: (X being the drive letter
you want to format)

The last two methods also assume a partition is created.
If not use the first method to have Disk Managment create
that partition for you.

Another option to those above (if installing Win2K) is to choose the install off the CD and choose the format option when it asks you
