Here is an easy way to crack any password on XP...
The only thing you need is a XP Pro CD and a valid Serial#
1.Boot off the CD and do a Repair (not from the recovery console)
2.Setup will copy all the dll's... then your pc will restart and start the
next step of the repair(were it give's you all bunch of info about XP)
3.On the left side of your screen you'll see the progress bar
4. As soon as you see "Installing Devices" press Shift+F10
5.This will open a command prompt.
6.from the command prompt, type nusrmgr.cpl
7.This command will open the user profile were you can reset any password
(including the administrators)
8.After you reset the password, simply close the user profile window and
the command prompt and let the setup finish the install.
9.That's it, as soon as the install is done your password will be reset
and you'll have access to everything.

This may look a little complex but as soon as you'll do it once you'll see
it's easy. Do not forget, you now need to update your pc, since you just
lost all the updates if you had any.

Now, do you feel safe with your piece of crap XP?
try http://www.ubuntu.com

Pah! The root password (or any account password) on this (and indeed any
Linux) is just as easily deleted, once you know how. Unlike Windows, you
don't need to run any external utility to achieve this, the tools are
already built in.

That's OK because Unix and Linux are no more secure. It can take me all of
around (ooh) 3 minutes to to delete the root password of either system.
There are quite a few websites that provide such info about linux, so
you are not unique in your knowledge. However, without physical access
it becomes a different ballgame. And even with physical access, there
are ways to prevent someone from messing with a system. Read the
following: http://linuxgazette.net/107/tomar.html

Funny, my son just asked me how to keep track of his 100 or so buddies
on his AIM. He cant seem to remember whos's login is who's real name or
friend. I said, just use notepad etc. and keep a list that you can print
out and save under your mouse pad :)

There are also ways to prevent someone breaking into XP, even if they have
physical acces to the PC. But these precautions have to be specifically set
up someone who knows what they are doing, often with thrd party utilities.
They don't come out of the box.

Whenever I break into someone's house and want to know passwords etc.,
so I can get into their computer, the first place I always look is
under the mouse pad. ;-)
