ForecRemoval of AD

V

Vincent

Hi,

I wanted to know if I use the ForceRemoval Command on a
domain controller, will the server loose it
permissions/rights after the demotion?

I'm using the ForceRemoval command because dcpromo could
not demote it to a member server.

I only want to demote the server to a member server.

Thanks,
Vincent

An extract from KB 332199:

"However, if you force the demotion of a domain
controller, you return the operating system to a state
that is the same as the successful demotion of the last
domain controller in a domain (service start values,
installed services, use of a registry based SAM for the
account database, computer is a member of a workgroup).
Programs that are installed on the demoted domain
controller remain installed."

The DC will have the default server security mask applied
as a reult of the demotion, as it would via a 'normal'
demotion.

HTH,
Neil
