Demoting a DC hosting DFS

We have a domain controller that is also a file controller and hosts
domain DFS. We are planning to demote it to a member server soon.
Will demoting it break the DFS? I'm wondering if domain DFS has to be
hosted on a domain controller and will we need to move the DFS root to
another domain controller before demoting this one.
