for the experts: hibernation/reusme does not work

in fact, hibernation works fine, just resume gives me a blank screen
where the login (welcome screen) should appear. ctrl-alt-del doesnt
work, shutdown by power-button doesnt work either. have to switch off
and reboot.

changed video drivers back and forth, nothing so far.
plugged/unplugged external drives .. nothing

any more ideas?

thx
Markus

Have you tried disabling the screen saver, and checking in the power
settings that it isn't turning off the screen?

On my laptop when I use hibernate and come back in I have to press the on
button on my laptop and it lets me know that it is resuming; the screen is
black with a progress bar. When its finished that is when I get the login
screen.

Are you saying that yours is not doing this and it just hangs with only a
black screen and no progress bar after you press your on button?

but shouldn't i get something then if i move the mouse after resume?
i mean, i get a blank screen (no video signal) and nothing happends,
regardless of mouse or keyboard activity.
but i will try disabling the power options.

correction: video signal is there after dsabling monitor turn off, but
just nothing to see.

could it be that loginui is corrupt?

Well, that's how it's supposed to work, but I've seen it where the power
management takes over for whatever reason...a laptop that is unplugged,
password required upon restart...

Did you try disabling those things?

i disabled turn off monitor in powermanagement, screensaver was not
active all the time, it did not work either.

it shows the resume progress bar, but right after that, when the login
screen should appear, it goes blank. and the computer presumably crashes
