I need to have a line for initials on all pages of a document (Will) but I
only need page numbers starting on page 2. How do I suppress the page number
on page one and not the line for the initials?

On the Layout tab of Page Setup, check the box for "Different first page."
This will give you a separate First Page Header/Footer. Put the initials
line in the First Page Footer and the page number and initials line in the
Footer.
