I have just purchased a new Acer 4000 laptop to replace a 3 year old
computer which I used extensively for design work using the original list
of XP/ Office 2000 typestyles. The new XP doesn't include them, so I cannot
transfer files over either by direct link or disc. How do I add these
"original" fonts to my new system (I have both XP registration details)

Any bright ideas/solutions?

You need to install Microsoft Office.

Thanks Carey...only problem still seems to be, with Microsoft Office (the
original disc as supplied and verified)installed...the new typeface
selections still seem to have been absorbed so I still can't
"facsimile"original designs done. If a "big wig" at Microsoft is reading
this, surely, having checked credentials for my computers...a download could
be organised as simply as they all slot in updates. Having paid for both
XP's, surely this must be possible?
